10 Friendship Bracelets using Boxed Czech Mixes – FREE Tutorial

These Bracelets was inspired by comment left by our talented customer Sally after completing her “Vintage Jewelry Set I”. Tools needed:

Round-nose pliers
Chain-nose pliers
Wire Cutter

For Method below I will use “AQUA” Mix from Czech Boxed Mixes. Here is my colors selection:

Method:

Step 1: For each Bracelet cut 20cm of Tigertail wire, total 10 pieces.
Step 2: Take one end of Tigertail wire and insert 1 Crimp bead, 1 size 8/0 seed bead and one end of Wire Guard, pass through second end of Wire Guard and insert into the same size 8/0 seed bead and crimp bead. Pull Tigertail wire tightly and press crimp bead with Chain-noise pliers.

Step 3: For 7inch (about 18cm) long bracelet you thread 48 pcs size 8/0 seed beads onto Tigertail wire.

Step 4: Attach on the other end of Bracelet crimp bead only (without Wire Guard) as explained in Step 2. This is going to be temporary crimp bead; we will replace her with new one later. Keep about 1cm of extra tigertail wire before pressing a crimp bead. We will need this free space to make thread pass easies through the 8/0 seed beads (refer to picture below).

Step 5: Take a beading needle and thread with Monofilament thread (about 2.0 meters long). To make thread pass through easier the needle’s eye, press one end of thread with Chain-noise pliers (to flatten). Take a Stop Bead and pass through hole few times. This will help Monofilament thread stay in the place. If you don’t use Stop Bead, your seed beads will fall out of the Monofilament. As a Stop Bead you can use any bead because you will remove her later anyway.

Lets the Fun Begin :)

Step 6: Skip 1st 8/0 seed bead, Crimp bead and 2nd 8/0 seed bead. Insert needle with Monofilament thread into 3rd 8/0 seed bead from right to left direction as shown on picture below.

Here is a Draft 1 how to use different colors of seed bead and visually “blend” them together. This technique applies to all 10 Bracelets. Basically you will use 1 color ”A” of 8/0 seed beads and 2 colors “A” & “B” of 11/0 seed beads. First Fringe will be color “A” of 11/0 seed beads, Second Fringe will be mix of colors “A” & “B” of 11/0 seed beads, and Third Fringe will be color “B” of 11/0 seed beads.

Because of holes of Czech Beads are both top-drilled and center-drilled, here is 2 variations How to Attach them to the end of Fringes (please refer to Draft 1 for color chart).

Variation 1 (for center-drilled):

Thread 5pcs seed beads in size 11/0, 1 seed bead in size 8/0, 5pcs seed beads in size 11/0, 1 seed bead in size 8/0, 5pcs seed beads in size 11/0, 1 seed bead in size 8/0, 1 Czech Bead from Boxed Mix, 1 seed bead in size 8/0.

Pass needle through last 8/0 seed bead, 1 Czech Bead from Boxed Mix, 1 seed bead 8/0 and continue second part same as described above. You should have two identical parts with the same amount of beads on both parts.

Variation 2 (for top-drilled):

Same as for center-drilled, but once you thread last 8/0 seed bead, thread 3-4 more 11/0 seeds, pass through hole of Czech Bead from Boxed Mix, thread 3-4 more 11/0 seeds, pass needle through 8/0 seed beads and finish second part same as described above. You should have two identical parts with the same amount of beads on both parts.

Step 8 : Using method described above, finish to form First Fringe by skipping 3rd seed bead of 8/0 size and passing needle through 4th seed bead of 8/0 size. Don’t pull Monofilament very tight, Fringes should be flexible and “drape” softly. During forming of Fringes you will notice that your Monofilament thread is visible when you passing and skipping 8/0 seed beads. Don’t worry about it, at the end Monofilament will be hidden between 8/0 seed beads.

Below is First Fringe (color “A”) & Second Fringes (color “A” & “B” mix) are finished, Third Fringe (in color “B”) is about to be finished.

Step 8 : Continue making Fringes as described in Steps 6-8 until you will have total of 26 Fringes. Please Note, on the pictures shown bracelet made with 29 Fringes for bigger *frame* person, so don’t count how many Fringes on the photos, just follow my instructions.

Step 9: In this Step you will learn how to secure the Monofilament thread on both sides of bracelet.

Once you finish Fringe # 26, pass needle through bead # 48 left to right direction. Now your needle located between beads # 48 & # 49. Make a knot between beads # 48 & 49 as shown on the picture below. Repeat knot 2 times and at the same time please don’t pull Monofilament very tight.

Repit Knot twice.

Pass needle through loop (pink color on the picture)

Step 10 : Once Double knot completed, make a U-turn and pass needle through 8/0 seeds and Fringes as shown on the picture below.

Step 11 : Remove Stop-bead on the other end of Bracelet and secure Monofilament the same way as in Step 10.

Step 12 : Remove temporary crimp bead with pliers or cutter, whichever way is comfortable for you. Snap the row of the 8/0 seed beads very tightly.

Step 13 : Insert onto Tigertail wire 1 new Crimp bead, 1 size 8/0 seed bead and one end of Wire Guard, pass through second end of Wire Guard and insert into the same size 8/0 seed bead, crimp bead and beads # 48 & 49.

Pull Tigertail wire very tightly and press crimp bead with Round-noise pliers. Cut remaining of Tigertail wire between beads # 47 & 48.

Okay, let’s put all pieces together

Step 14 : Use 2 pcs of 5mm diam. Jumprings to attach *Star* part and *Wand* part.

First attach *Star* part…

…and then *Wand* part…

…wah wah wah, getting prettier :)

Let’s make it even more prettier and attach with 2 Jumprings (5mm & 8mm) *Heart with Diamante* Charm.

Time to attach Charms, or you can wear this Bracelet *as it*, whichever way is comfortable for you. Here are the Charms I want to use…The “Mermaid Kitty* Charm my lil girl pick for me (she said because we are going to take a turns, right mum :)

Attach onto each Charm 5mm & 8mm Jumprings like on the picture below.

First attach Focal Charm in the meddle of Bracelet…

…and the rest of them, don’t be shy, use as many as you wish!

The End : ))))

Hi! Just would like to ask will you bring in more seed beads (Matsuno) of different colours and effects to your store in near future? Thank you very much for the information. Cheers!

  2. Marina@MarinaCraft Says:

    Dear Hooi Ling,

We have about 120 other colors in other sizes and finishings. Frankly, its takes a lot of time to take a good photos, modify them and then upload to the web. We also have about 100 other Miyuki colors not yet uploaded. Usually if customers need some certain colors, they ask us by email. Please email to me what color and size do you need. If we don’t have it, I can order to Japan with our next shipment. We receive beads from Japan every month.
